Decathlon exoskeleton: models, prices and where to try (2026)
Decathlon does not sell its own exoskeleton yet: Quechua's E-Hike is still a prototype, and the models listed online are Hypershell units sold by partner sellers. Models, prices compared with the brand's own store, returns, warranty and where to try one.
Introduction: does Decathlon really sell an exoskeleton?
Type « exosquelette » into Decathlon France's website and you will find several powered walking exoskeletons, listed from €699 to €1,999. Yet none of them is a Decathlon product: they are exoskeletons made by Hypershell and sold by third-party sellers on the retailer's marketplace. The real in-house project, Quechua's E-Hike, is still not on sale.
This guide untangles the two, compares the prices found on decathlon.fr with those on Hypershell's official store, explains what buying through a marketplace changes (returns, warranty, after-sales service) and shows where to try one before paying. Prices quoted are those found at the time of writing: they change often with promotions, so check them on the day you buy.
E-Hike: the Quechua prototype that is not on sale
The E-Hike is the hiking exoskeleton Decathlon developed for its Quechua brand. According to Outside, it has three parts: a backpack, a belt around the hips and arms attached around the thighs. Decathlon claims it reduces the effort required from the legs by about 25%, both uphill and downhill. That figure comes from the brand: to our knowledge, no independent measurement has been published.
The project has been tested at length. According to the same article, 63 trials were run over 45 days, covering more than 750 km, in the field or in the lab. Decathlon then opened a public test on its co-creation platform: one-day guided hikes in the Giffre valley, starting from Samoëns (Haute-Savoie), from 19 August to 29 September 2024, with 272 registered participants. Only the tester wore the exoskeleton; their companions walked without one.
However, no price or release date has been announced. Outside noted as early as January 2025 that Decathlon was keeping quiet about a launch, and we found no E-Hike listing on sale on decathlon.fr: the exoskeleton category only offers Hypershell units sold by partners. So be wary of pages quoting a « Decathlon exoskeleton price »: they are actually talking about Hypershell.
Hypershell on Decathlon: a marketplace, not an in-house product
Hypershell designs powered hip exoskeletons for walking and hiking. On decathlon.fr, their listings state that they are « sold and shipped by » a partner, most often Sports connect, as on the Hypershell X GO listing. Decathlon acts as the shop window and takes the payment, but the page explaining its marketplace is clear: all items sold on the marketplace are prepared and shipped by the partners, with one parcel per partner.
The same model can even appear from two sellers at different prices. On Decathlon's ski exoskeleton page, an X ULTRA S was offered by another seller, Sports Lab FR, at €2,259.05, compared with €1,999 from Sports connect on the Hypershell brand page. Always check the seller's name before confirming your basket.
Hypershell is also moving into physical stores. In a press release dated 21 April 2026, the brand announced a partnership with the distributor innov8 Connect and aims for 100 physical points of sale in France by the end of 2026, at Fnac, Boulanger and Decathlon. Models and prices: Decathlon or Hypershell's store?
Hypershell currently sells two generations. The X range (Go X, Pro X, Carbon X, Ultra X) is flagged as discontinued on its official product page, which points to the new S series (Pro S, Max S, Ultra S). Both generations still sit side by side on decathlon.fr.
| Model | Price on decathlon.fr | Price on Hypershell's store | Announced power |
|---|---|---|---|
| Go X | €699 | €699 (instead of €999) | 400 W |
| Pro X | €899 | €899 (instead of €1,199) | 800 W |
| Carbon X | €1,099 on promotion (instead of €1,299) | €1,299 (instead of €1,799) | 800 W |
| Ultra X | €1,499 on promotion (instead of €1,799) | €1,799 (instead of €1,999) | 1,000 W |
| Pro S | not found | €999 | 800 W |
| Max S | not found | €1,499 | 1,000 W |
| Ultra S | €1,999 | €1,999 | 1,000 W |
Table sources: the Decathlon listings for the X GO, X PRO, X CARBON and X ULTRA, Decathlon's Hypershell page (Ultra S), and on the brand side the X range, Ultra X and S series pages. « Not found » means we did not find the model on decathlon.fr.
Key takeaways:
- No difference on entry-level models: the Go X and Pro X cost the same at Decathlon and at the brand.
- On the Carbon X and Ultra X, Decathlon is cheaper during its promotion, announced from 06/10/2026 to 30/12/2026 on the ski exoskeleton page: €200 less on the Carbon X and €300 less on the Ultra X compared with Hypershell's listed prices.
- Take « crossed-out » prices with a pinch of salt: they are reference prices set by the seller, and they differ between the two sites.

Warranty, returns, after-sales: what changes with the seller
Price is not everything. On a powered device at this price, after-sales service matters just as much. Here is what the pages we consulted say.
| Criterion | Decathlon (marketplace) | Hypershell's store |
|---|---|---|
| Seller | A partner (often Sports connect) | The brand itself |
| Returns | 30 days for a new, unused item, free of charge | Returns within 14 days |
| In-store return | Not accepted | Not applicable |
| Stated commercial warranty | Depends on the seller's listing | 24 months on the X range, 12 months on the S series |
| After-sales contact | Decathlon customer service, which puts you in touch with the partner | Hypershell customer service |
A few points to watch:
- Decathlon's return period is not consistent: the marketplace page states 30 days in its main text, but its FAQ mentions free returns for 14 days after receipt. Take a screenshot of the conditions on the day you buy.
- No in-store returns: the parcel goes back by post or via a pick-up point, even if there is a Decathlon store near you.
- Hypershell's stated warranty varies by generation: 24 months on the Ultra X page, 12 months on the S series page. Whoever the seller is, the legal guarantee of conformity also applies: see our question on exoskeleton warranties.
- Payment: the marketplace accepts bank cards and payment in instalments, but not Decathlon gift cards.

Which model to choose among those sold at Decathlon?
All these models are worn at the waist and on the thighs, and assist the hip while walking. What sets them apart is mainly power, range and weight, according to the brand's product pages.
Go X: for occasional walking
The Go X announces 400 W, 2 kg and 15 km per battery according to the Hypershell product page. It is the cheapest model, designed for walks and outings without big climbs. Details are in our question Hypershell Go X: who is it for, what price and what range? and on the Hypershell Go X product page.
Pro X and Carbon X: the core of the range
Both announce 800 W and 17.5 km per battery. The Carbon X drops to 1.8 kg thanks to its carbon fibre frame, compared with 2 kg for the Pro X. To decide whether that weight saving is worth the price gap, read Hypershell Carbon X or Pro X: what is the difference? and compare the Pro X and Carbon X product pages.
Ultra X and S series: for the mountains
The Ultra X announces 1,000 W and 30 km per battery according to its official page. It is the model to consider for long days with plenty of climbing, especially during the Decathlon promotion. Our question is the Ultra X worth the extra cost over the Pro X? weighs the pros and cons. The new S series uses the same power levels, from 800 W for the Pro S to 1,000 W for the Max S and Ultra S.

Where to try a Hypershell exoskeleton before buying
An exoskeleton is judged in the field: strap adjustment, the feeling of the push and the noise vary from one person to another. There are several options.
- A guided Decathlon outing: the Decathlon Activités platform offers a hike called « Retrouvez vos montagnes avec Hypershell » (find your mountains again with Hypershell), starting from the Decathlon Mountain Store in Passy (Haute-Savoie). The day runs from 9 am to 5 pm, with up to 800 m of climbing adapted to the group, and an Ultra X lent as an option. The outing is for adults aged 18 and over, limited to 12 participants, with at most 6 wearing an exoskeleton. The page promises up to 40% less effort when climbing: that is a brand figure, to be checked for yourself.
- Partner stores: with the target of 100 physical points of sale announced in Hypershell's press release, demonstration units should appear at Fnac, Boulanger and Decathlon. Call the store before you go.
- Rental: our question on where to rent or try an exoskeleton before buying lists the options.
- The return period: as a last resort, an online purchase with a return right lets you try it at home, provided you meet the seller's conditions (new product, original packaging).
As for the E-Hike, the 2024 test sessions are over. If Decathlon runs new ones, they will be announced on its co-creation platform.
Our view: Decathlon or the brand?
For the Go X and Pro X, the price is the same: choose based on the conditions you prefer. Hypershell's store puts you in direct contact with the manufacturer, with no middleman; according to its page, the Decathlon marketplace offers a longer return period, but the seller remains a third party and stores take nothing back.
For the Carbon X and Ultra X, the Decathlon promotion makes a real difference while it lasts. Just check three things before paying: the seller's name, the model's generation (discontinued X range or S series) and the warranty stated on the listing. And if you are waiting for a « 100% Decathlon » exoskeleton, be patient: no release date has been given for the E-Hike.
