Frequently asked questions
Is the Imbrace Gen 2 a motorized exoskeleton?
No. Unlike the Hypershell, Dnsys or VIGX models also on our shop, the Imbrace Gen 2 contains no motor and no battery: it's a technical compression garment whose support comes from passive mechanical reinforcements built into the fabric (knee support panels, a Core Boost waist system for the back and pelvis). By its principle — textile support with no rigid external structure — it's closer to the Stoko K1 than to a motorized exoskeleton or even the external spring-rod approach of the Ski-Mojo. The advantage of this passive approach is zero recharging and a fit close to an ordinary sports garment; the trade-off is a lower level of mechanical support than a spring- or motor-based system for the most severe pain or joint fragility cases.
What is the difference with the Stoko K1 or the Ski-Mojo?
All three technologies address the same need — protecting the knee and joints while skiing — with very different approaches. The Stoko K1 specifically targets the knee via a network of roughly 30 meters of high-strength Dyneema cable built into a tight, a very targeted and discreet approach. The Ski-Mojo uses rigid external spring rods along the leg, which mechanically take on part of your body weight with every flex — the most powerful of the three technologies, but also the most visible and heaviest. The Imbrace Gen 2 stands out by extending support beyond the knee alone: hip, IT band and lower back are all covered in a single compression garment, with no rigid external structure at all. It's therefore the best fit if your discomfort isn't limited to the knee, while the Stoko K1 and Ski-Mojo remain more powerful for an isolated, pronounced knee issue.
Is the displayed price accurate?
The price shown on our page (€192) is an indicative conversion from British pounds (£165, the official price found on imbrace.com) at the exchange rate on the day this was written. As with any currency conversion, this amount may shift slightly by the time you buy, depending on how the GBP/EUR rate moves; the exact amount you'll pay is whatever is shown in euros (or pounds, depending on your payment method) directly on Imbrace's official site at checkout. We'd recommend double-checking this final price before confirming your order rather than relying solely on the indicative amount shown here.
Can it be worn for sports other than skiing?
This Gen 2 "Snow Sport" model is specifically built for skiing and snowboarding: its boot-length 3/4 cut stops short of interfering with your boots, and its reinforcements are positioned for the specific demands of snow sports (repeated flexion, twisting, lateral loading). For running, cycling or hiking, Imbrace offers a separate range called "MultiSport" (full-length or 3/4 leggings, for men and women), with reinforcements suited to those activities rather than skiing. Wearing the Snow Sport model outside winter sports is still possible for general comfort, but you won't get the same relevance of support as you would on the slopes.
